Nino Cerruti dreamt of becoming a journalist. He gave up his philosophy studies, however, to take over the family business. The year is 1950, Nino is 20 years old.

An expert in production procedures, he modernises the family weaving workshops and invests in two further factories in Milan to produce his first masculine collection in 1957. He thus inaugurates luxury prêt-à-porter.
